Bảng chữ cái ngữ âm quốc tế (IPA) là một hệ thống ký hiệu ngữ âm được các nhà ngôn ngữ học nghĩ ra để thể hiện chính xác và duy nhất từng loại âm thanh được sử dụng trong ngôn ngữ nói của con người.

The International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) is a phonetic symbol system devised by linguists to accurately and uniquely represent each type of sound used in human spoken language.

Đó là, đối với mỗi âm thanh chúng ta tạo ra khi chúng ta nói có một biểu tượng IPA duy nhất bất kể ngôn ngữ.

That is, for every sound we make when we speak there is a unique IPA symbol regardless of the language.
